The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law is a non-partisan public policy and law institute that focuses on improving the systems of democracy and justice. A singular institution – part think-tank, part public interest law firm, part advocacy group – the Brennan Center combines research, scholarship, legislative and legal advocacy, and communications to win meaningful, measurable change in the public sector.
We are seeking interns to provide administrative and clerical support to staff in our New York office on our Digital team in our Communications Department.
Responsibilities: The intern will assist with general administrative and clerical work for the Brennan Center, including filing, photocopying, answering phones, shipping and mailing, coordinating meetings, drafting routine correspondence and covering the reception desk. Additionally, there will be opportunities to attend and observe substantive meetings, events, and conversations on program work.
The digital intern will assist the Digital Coordinator and Digital Manager, draft social copy, create social media toolkits for Brennan Center reports, manage Twitter lists, update the departmental calendar, report on weekly social analytics, update the Brennan Center website, identify major industry influencers, create digital graphics, and strategize new ways to expand our digital audience.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate is an independent self-starter; detail-oriented; energetic; and highly organized. The digital intern must have excellent communication skills and be up-to-date on emerging social media platforms. Graphic design skills (Photoshop + InDesign) will be very helpful. Experience working with social media management platforms such as HootSuite, Buffer, SproutSocial, etc., is preferred.
This internship is only open to current undergraduate students.
Hours: 15-25 hours per week.
Pay: $12.50 per hour.
Duration: One semester.
